Traffic Enforcement

The Hood River County Sheriff's Office ensures motorists are safe and in compliance with traffic laws by patroling the roadways.

About Traffic Enforcement

When deputies aren’t responding to calls for service, they are on our roadways, ensuring motorists are safe and in compliance with traffic laws.  In addition to traditional motor vehicle law enforcement, traffic enforcement plays a key role in crime detection and reduction.  Annually many crimes are discovered or solved due to the efforts of our deputies on the roadways.  Arrests are commonly made for narcotics possession and trafficking, stolen property is recovered and wanted persons are taken into custody.

The Hood River County Sheriff’s Office perennially participates in federal traffic grant programs that help ensure our roadways are safe by providing funding for targeted DUII, seatbelt and child safety seat patrols.

In addition to proactive traffic enforcement, our patrol division also responds to on going or acute traffic concerns in the county.  In addition to patrolling problem areas, the patrol division has a speed measuring trailer that helps remind motorists to obey speed limits.  To report a traffic concern in your neighborhood or request the speed measuring reader board, click here.
