Concealed Handgun License

Hood River County residents interested in applying for a Concealed Handgun License must first take a gun safety class or show proof of recent completion of a gun safety class which includes a component on handgun safety.  Enrollment in gun safety classes is available through local area gun shops, qualified NRA instructors, and online (including here).

Upon completion of a class, citizens should bring the following to the Sheriff’s Business Office at 309 State, Street, Hood River, OR 97031, weekdays from 8am - 11am and 1pm - 4pm.

  1. Oregon Driver License and proof of citizenship (government issued birth certificate or passport.)
  2. Proof of Handgun Safety Class completion (here's one way).
  3. Check or exact cash for $65 (new applicants) or $50 (renewals) payable to Hood River County.

Please allow up to six weeks for processing. Once fully processed and approved, cards will be mailed to the address listed on the application. 

Note: All fees are non-refundable and cover the costs of the background investigation and processing as required by law.
