The Sheriff’s Office Reserve program works in conjunction with the Oregon State Snowmobile Association (www.oregonsnow.org), Co-Op Law Enforcement program to provide snow patrol coverage in the Mt Hood area. They patrol U.S. Forest Service Road # 44 from Little John snow park to Camp Baldwin, Lost Lake area and White River East area. The Sheriff’s Office Reserve snow patrol program started in 1999 and is in its 7th year. The Oregon State Snowmobile Association provides funds each year that goes directly into the Reserve program for snow patrol. The Reserves used the money to purchase the two snowmobiles and they volunteer their time to patrol. The 2005 Triton trailer that is used to transport the snowmobiles was funded by Title III funds. The snow patrol officers enforce the Oregon Revised Statutes Recreational laws and assists with Search and Rescue.
