NEIGHBORHOOD NUISANCE?

One of the most common public complaints is the barking dog.  Although considered to be man’s best friend, the dog may not always be a neighborhood delight, especially if it is a barker.  You can determine for yourself whether your dog is a good companion, a good watchdog, or a neighborhood nuisance by asking yourself the following questions:

Does you dog bark excessively …

· When it is alone or lonesome?

· When another dog barks?

· When kids are playing?

· When you come and go?

· When it hears a siren?

· At passing cars, mail carriers, etc.?

· When it is left outside?

Everyone is aware that dogs bark from time to time, it’s how they express themselves.  Dogs will bark when they are excited or frustrated, or when a stranger or another animal intrudes on their territory.  However, excessive barking can be extremely annoying to neighbors as well as those who have to live with a noisy dog.  A constant barker is more likely to be ignored if there is an intruder, since it seems to “cry wolf” all the time.  We can help you find solutions to your barking dog or one that bothers you.
