It is the goal of the Sheriff’s Office to provide investigative services to all residents and visitors, in order to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Hood River County.

The Hood River County Sheriff’s Office has two detectives assigned to general criminal cases and one to the Mid-Columbia Interagency Narcotics Team (MINT).  These three detectives are responsible for investigating all major crimes in Hood River County.

Detective Qualifications & Duties

In order to be assigned to a detective position a deputy has to have at least five years as patrol deputy. Cases assigned to the Detectives are those that require particular expertise or may require extensive or lengthy follow up, thus freeing patrol deputies for other duties. These cases include a wide range of crimes such as assaults, computer crimes, elder abuse, homicides, sex crimes, and property crimes. 
 

Other duties of the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office detectives include processing crime scenes, collecting, possessing and storage of evidence, registering sex offenders, and working closely with the District Attorney’s Office to successfully prosecute crimes.
