Hood River County Sheriff's Office deputies continue a high level of training throughout their career.
The training program requires mandatory, monthly, in-house training.
In order to respond to the diverse environment that Hood River County presents, deputies must be well trained and continue a high level of training throughout their career ensuring the communities needs are met, employees are safe while performing their duties and reducing liability.
Deputies are presented with in-house training opportunities monthly. A majority of our patrol deputies are certified trainers in patrol related disciplines. Our trainers ensure not only our full time staff is properly trained but lead training efforts for reserve deputies, providing training to and train with other local and regional law enforcement agencies. Additionally, some of our deputies work as part time instructor’s at Oregon’s Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST).
