Hood River County Sheriff's Office

Professional, Committed, Trusted

Marine Patrol

Who we are....
The Hood River County Sheriff’s Office has been patrolling the waterways of Hood River County since 1970.  We provide assistance to those who are in distress on our waterways.  Our Marine Program is funded through a partnership with the Oregon State Marine Board.
The program provides a full time Marine Deputy and a part time Seasonal Deputy. In just the last 2 years, the Oregon State Marine Board has helped us with funding to provide a seasonal deputy to assist the full time deputy as our call volume has grown each year.
What we do.....
Our main patrol area, the Columbia River, has a high volume of Windsurfing and Kite-Boarding along with recreational and commercial boat traffic. Our Marine Deputies work in cooperation with the Columbia River Intertribal Fisheries, Oregon State Police Fish and Game unit and our adjacent counties of Wasco, Klickitat, Multnomah and Skamania.
Some of the services we provide to the community are:
  • Boat Safety Inspections
  • Hull Identification inspections
